These short courses provide great opportunities for both new and returning dog parents and their dogs to learn, refine, and/or refresh important life skills. Sessions are once a week for three consecutive weeks. Along with daily practice, these three session short courses will help you make significant progress with your dog's good manners. Short Course A: Reliable Recall and More
Along with our Orientation Session (required for those new to Canine Connection group classes), our two short courses cover most of the material that are taught during our seven-session Obedience Basics course. Our two short courses can be taken concurrently (e.g. Short Course A on Monday and Short Course B on Friday), consecutively (e.g. Short Course A on Monday night followed by Short Course B on Monday night) or separately (e.g. Short Course A without taking Short Course B or vice versa). NOTE: Dog parents who are new to Canine Connection group classes must first start with our Orientation Seminar (please call or email for scheduled times) then can join our short course program. Grads of Puppy Kindergarten and Obedience Basics can jump right in to one of our scheduled short courses.

Dogs build confidence in themselves and in you. Plus, agility is great exercise, for the mind and body, for dogs and their people too. But most importantly, agility is just great fun! As you progress in the sport to Level II and beyond, you can decide if a competition future is for you, or if you simply want to jump for the joy of it. Note: Use of a clicker or verbal reward marker (e.g. yes!) is essential for this class.

TreibballTreibball is a wonderful new dog sport that allows urban herding breeds (and non-herding breeds too!) to express that natural herding desire without the need for barnyard animals. Dogs learn how to control and herd balls across a large field and bring them right to your feet! This is a great activity for you and your dog to expend some pent up energy while having a blast! For those so inclined, competitions (depending on the venue and level ) vary from the relatively easy 3 balls on a flat field in 7 minutes to the very advanced 8 balls over a field full of obstacles in 10 minutes. Treibball Foundations:This class will teach you and your dog the vitally important foundation behaviors of stationing, beginning directional control, go ‘around' and ‘push'. Treibball Continued: Treibball foundation graduates will further previously learned behaviors and will add the art of ball control to their skill set. You will be instructed in all the basic behaviors needed to participate in this fun new sport.

Rally-OThis dog sport encourages fun while performing obedience behaviors and maneuvers. Dog and handler teams traverse a course, usually maintaining an informal "heel" position, of 10 to 20 stations consisting of various obedience behaviors such as Halt-Sit-Stay, Right Turn, 270 degree Turn Left, Finish Left, and many more. Handlers (owners) are allowed and encouraged to communicate in a positive and encouraging way with their dog. This sport enhances teamwork between owner and dog, and reinforces solid leash skills. This course will introduce dog/handler teams to the APDT Level 1 behaviors/maneuvers, working up to completing courses of 10 to 15 stations. This course is suitable for continuing Canine Connection students. Note: Rally O will be best enjoyed if your dog is calm around other dogs, does not pull on a leash when walking, and has achieved at least an intermediate level of obedience.

The Therapy Dog Training Prep Class is NOT required as part of your preparation to be evaluated for the Delta Society Pet Partner program. We are offering it simply to improve your understanding of evaluation requirements and provide you with a forum for becoming excellent pet therapy volunteers.
Note: This class meets for five (5) consecutive weeks.
